BUILDER: Brodson Construction
LOCATION: Exclusive Pine Tree Drive in MIami FL
The owner provided us with all available construction documentation from his builder, architect and landscape architect. This project included a 3d model in Revit, architectural drawings, landscape design drawings, and concept design sketches for specific areas of detail still under development.
Volley can operate flexibly on design teams. For this portfolio, Volley was tasked with infilling the design with intelligent design details and interior design because many of the design elements were schematic or non-yet-developed.
We take the selection of views very seriously. Our approach springs from equal parts expertise in photography as well as architecture, with a holistic consideration of camera angle, lighting potential, and clarity of design concept. The view study below was used to determine 5 views for further development; these views are often abstracted as seen here in order to focus conversation on the "big idea" of each view.
Beautiful images are a process. Volley loves this process. In our residential projects, the first preview that includes a full representation of the latest architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design, is often an enlightening moment because it is often the first time a client sees all design pieces together in a synthesized view. For this image, Volley ultimately recommended adjustments to the camera and floor plan to create the most eye-catching scene.
Below is a mid-stage process view of the image with initial furniture design and schematic lighting conditions.
After discussions with the client, Volley proposed a revised custom furniture selection and refined the lighting scheme.
For interior design, we always let design drive the image. This means that we are not limited to ready-made 3d models but, rather, we regularly create custom furniture pieces after we have thoroughly researched available specifications and reference images. Below are some examples of custom pieces from this image.
Lifestyle items and accessories can make an image. We make sure that each of our images captures the right sense of place and mood for the residence. Lifestyle elements are the final brushstrokes to an image, and we will often use custom models or photography to capture specific pieces.
For Volley, art direction means taking creative lead in ensuring that every image finds is greatest visual potential. The basics include setting camera angles and determining the ideal lighting conditions; however, our expertise often takes us into many other areas of design. For example, in order to develop this image, the original furniture layout provided to us was schematic and did not properly communicate the scale and luxury of the living space; Volley developed a furniture layout that was more complementary to the view. Additionally, the owner was able to entrust Volley with selecting additional furniture and accessories to complement pieces chosen by the client in order to complete the scene.
